Gps Units for golf 101 part1
If you are an average golfer with other responsibilities, like family and work and other sports you might not get to play golf as much as you like. Maybe you can only play 8 to 10 times a year and you have a limited budget, is a GPS for the golf course needed?
Well it is up to you but there are a lot of variables in that question. When you do golf do you really know the golf course well enough to stay out of trouble? Do you play at only one of two golf courses a few times a year of do you play them only once or twice?
The golf GPS units have different options and screen qualities, along with the quality of the information that you receive. Some of them have a membership to pay every year and some have all the courses right on them when you buy them.

Stay warm on the links
Staying warm while golfing is pretty much a must do. Nobody enjoys anything when you are freezing, even if you toes are cold. Dress warm and walking will create some heat to stay warm and a good hat will keep it in.
But what if you are riding in a cart with no windshield and a vinyl seat that is cold every time you sit down. There are a few manufacturers the have clear plastic strap on windshields. they cover the area between the roof uprights and have bungee cords to tighten them up on any kind of golf cart.
OK that problem is solved now what about the seat that makes you butt cold everytime you sit down and i never seem to warm up. Well, you guessed it, there are manufacturers that make fleece seat cover that have an elatic band so you can slip them on any rental in 30 seconds and you have a warm butt.
So there you go a clear plastic windshield and a fleece golf cart seat cover and you can feel a lot warmer on a chilly day so you can enjoy the greatest game there is.
Tips to stay warm and play golf part 4
Now you have the golf apparel for cold weather play and you have a golf cart cover and separate windshield for the rental. What other piece of golf equipment would help you to to play golf in the cold weather and enjoy it.
It is not good for plane travel but a Coleman propane heater would really insure that you have a warm day of golf. Coleman, the camping people, like to golf also. So they have designed their portable propane heater to fit in the golf cart cup holder.
This golf cart heater has it’s own ignition system so that you do not need a match. The heater is flame-less for safety and the heat is adjustable up to 3,000 BTU’s. And it will operate for 8 hours on a 16.4 disposable propane tank.
You are set for cold weather golf at home and away now get out there and do not let a little cold weather get in the way.
Tips to stay warm and play golf part 3
But at any rate they will both be worth the work and hassle if it gets cold and windy, and especially if it rains when it is cold. Then you will have the golf course to yourselves, even more fun.
But do not forget to have a fold-able clear plastic windshield to strap on in case the rental does not have a windshield. The golf cart cover does not do as much good if the windshield hole is still there. And if it warms up and the sun is hot later in the day you can fold open the doors and still have direct wind protection.
If you have a 4 sided golf cart cover with a built in windshield then you really have a heavy golf cart cover to travel with and if you get there and the rentals have windshields you do a lot of work with no reward. It is much better to have a separate windshield, which can be used without the cover on a mild day to block just the wind when you travel that long distance to where your tee shot finally stopped.
Tips to stay warm and play golf part 2
In part one we talked about dressing warm with the correct winter golf apparel. Now we will talk about what else can be done so that you can enjoy golf and camaraderie in this chilly weather.
If you rent a golf cart with a roof or if you have your own then you can have an enclosure to help keep you warm. There are many manufacturers of golf cart covers and many styles to choose from. They either go over the roof or wrap around the roof support bars.
Obviously the ones that go over have much more material and ar harder to transport but draping them over when you get there is easier. The ones that go under the roof and wrap around the bars are much less material but can be hard to adjust and get the way you want them.
Be prepared with a golf cart cover and your golf trip will include more and better golf.
Tips to stay warm and play golf part1
This is the time of year that no matter where you golf in the United States it is a good chance that you are going to have to dress for cold weather golf. You golfers know the drill, long socks, long sleeves, warm hat, and layers of insulated golf apparel.
Trying to make sure your clothes do not hinder your golf swing. And you put on your cold weather insulated golf gloves to keep your hands warm. You need Cold weather golf apparel to be able to enjoy the game of golf this time of the year. It is either that or standing inside looking out the window, not fun.
And if you are on of the fortunate golfers to have a golf trip you do not want to spend all that money and not have the warm clothes to allow you to play if the weather turns bad. And we all know that can happen anywhere this time of the year.
Nike golf balls for colder weather
I am sure you have noticed when it is 80 to 85 degrees out and you hit your Nike One off of the tee box. And it feels good and soft and you can feel the compression and you say oh yeah i got all of that one. But when yo do that same swing in the 50 to 60 degrees it is now (if you are south) you have a sting in your hands.
It feels like you just hit a brick with your driver, what happened to the Nike One golf ball that felt so good before. In simple terms it got cold with the weather. In my experience you have to change golf balls when it gets colder to get the feel you like. Nike has a ladies golf ball for slower golf club head speed.
The Nike womens Karma golf balls are softer in the cold weather. The jury is still out on the distance difference between a frozen Nike One or Nike Karma but the Karma golf balls sure feel better when i hit them.
Try slow swing speed golf balls like the Karma from Nike golf balls for colder weather golf.
Rainy weather golfing part 2
We finish a fun filled round of camaraderie and teasing and golf and only had two holes of rain and sixteen holes of dry golf. Isn’t that usually that is how it goes. Of coarse once or twice a year the horn goes off and we have to come off of the course for half an hour but the sun then pops out and we can continue anyway.
All the time the only reason we can even attempt to golf in this weather is because we are prepared for the worst and are willing to accept it. We have rain suits, rain gloves, rain hats and if we are renting a golf cart i have my golf cart cover to hide in.
It just goes to show you that if you love to play golf and enjoy it with friends it all works out to a great day. All you have to do is be prepared for what might happen. If you have your rain suit bag and your rain golf gloves in you golf bag and your golf partners do to then a wasted day with no golf can become a lasting memory.
Get your golf rain gear and get out there.
