r7CGB MAX ironTaylorMade r7 CGB Max Irons 3-PW w/Graphite Shaft

Is there a new era in the technology of iron performance?  The new r7CGB MAX irons has the inverted cone technology (ICT), that was a breakthrough for the metal woods to expand the core zone size, or sweet spot for us laymen golfers. And now that technology has been carried over to the r7CGB MAX irons.  So the club face behaves different on these irons than any iron before.

These new Taylormade golf clubs  face acts different on impact and the size of the sweet spot, where the high initial ball speed is delivered, is increased. That makes this new high tech golf club  easier to launch and promotes longer more consistent distance with exceptional direction even on off center hits. These new irons are on my christmas list for sure.

This line of putters are midnight black that give them an alluring and sleek  appearance for looking great hanging on your bag. There are models that feature micro weighting                      Some of the models feature back cavity micro weighting for perfectly positioning the center of gravity just behind the sweet spot.

Taylormade putters part 2 monza spider

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 By: john
Taylormade itsy bitsy spiderThe monza spider putter has a 20% smaller head version than the original monza spider so Taylormade named it Itsy Bitsy spider, how cute? Now Taylormade golf clubs has two monza spider versions to fit the golfers hands, needs and preferences.

The new itsy bitsy spider mid size has two movable weights in a steel wire frame construction. This high MOI mallet design has an aluminum core that is light and strong.

The Taylormade itsy bitsy spider helps out on off center hits with the perimeter weighting. And it also has movable weights to customize the head weight feel so the golfer can make it feel and putt to their liking.

Weekend Golf with Friends

Monday, September 21, 2009 By: john

This was a great weekend with old friends. As the readers of this blog already know i live on a golf course in northern Wisconsin and this is our second full golf season here. Well we had some good friends come up this weekend for two days of golf and fun. We played on a league with these four couples in Minnesota and have had good adventures with them before.

The weather was perfect again, upper 50’s in the early morning and mid 70’s for a high. After the friends got here we never had to move any cars, all of the transportation was either golf cart or walking. That made for a long night at the club house (19th hole) and much fun was had and then we just walked home a 1/4 mile.

Anyway golfing with these friends again was terrific and we played some good golf games with the golf balls flying everywhere.  Sunday we played two fivesomes with one score (with handicaps) counts on the first hole, two count on the second, three on the third, four on the fourth and then back to one again on the fifth and so on. And then you count all strokes on the ninth and eighteenth holes. Very fun games for this crowd, of coarse some of us had blurry eyes early but it was great fun. This is a simple game with simple golf rules and since you use handicaps anyone can play and it is fair.

My Golf day part 3

If you think about that then i guess it is no going to happen that you play golf on your handicap anywhere near every time or it will just keep moving down until sometime your handicap will be as low as it is going. Even Tiger can not keep going lower, so sooner or later you hit bottom. My point is, have fun and enjoy the game, if you are within four or five strokes of handicap consider it a good day.

OK back to the day of golf Tuesday. The second round is only a 9 hole league with Chicago points(see part two) and two on a team. It went well because when you have a good day everything seems to work out and it kind of feels like you are in a zone with a high level of confidence. And there is nothing better than a golfer with a big dose of  i can not do anything wrong and if i miss hit the golf ball it will turn out OK anyway.

You have had those days i hope, where you scald an approach shot with the sand wedge or the pitching wedge and the golf balls  runs right up to the flag anyway. Or you are on a dogleg and you do not try the short cut because the gap in the trees is narrow and the risk does not equal the reward unless you hit the perfect setup. You set up to go the safe golf shot and the ball drifts right and a little short. When you get to the ball it is setup perfect for the short cut, go figure, its one of those days. And that is why you learned how to play golf in the first place, just for these kind of days.

My Golf this week part 2

Thursday, September 17, 2009 By: john

Tuesday, as i said was a fun golf day. Right after cleaning up on the first eighteen game i had 20 minutes in the nineteenth hole while the Taylormade golf clubs sat outside cooling off and then back on the tee box for the Tuesday night 9 hole golf league. This format is also two man but with Chicago points, 1 for boogie, 2 for par, four for birdie, and 8 for an eagle, with handicap to make it even.

Now that brings up a good subject, handicap. Do you realize how hard it is to golf eighteen holes and hit your handicap. Many golfers, ladies and men, think you should hit it or beat it every time out or you are doing poorly. Actually that is not the case if you really think about it, hitting your handicap is not and should not be easy to do. This is how the rules of golf  say to figure your handicap. Your handicap is figured by taking your last 20 eighteen hole games and throwing out the worst 10 games and then they average out those best ten golf scores and that is your handicap.

Golf This Week part one

Category: Golf, Golf Instructions

What a week for golf? The weather here in northern Wisconsin is just about as great as it can get. Low 50’s early morning, great for sleeping with the windows open, of coarse i have to close them about 6:15 when the army of mowers come out to groom this beautiful golf course. And a high between 77 and 84 and the weather has been like this for three weeks at least.

Any way Tuesday morning i loaded up my taylormade golf clubs and headed to the club house for the golf game. Today was two man all strokes count, and i drew someone i had never meet before, new guy, but that turned out to be a good thing because Herb played well,94 with a 24 handicap and i shot a 87 and i am at 16 handicap right now. We ended up taking first and I  got a skin on 18, par 4, with a three because i drained a 55 foot putt downhill right to left in the center of the cup. Now that is how to play golf.  What a great 18 it was fun and I will be playing golf again soon.  And i mean soon because we finished at 2:35 and i play league with a tee time of 3:10.

come back soon for the rest of the story.
