Golf rain gear

What do you do when you are on the golf course and it looks like a big storm is on the horizon? Do you pack it up and head in to the club house early so that you do not get wet?

If you do that you may miss out on finishing a round of golf you have been looking forward to for two weeks. You need to have a packed up rain suit in your golf bag. If you had rain gear one thing is that you do not have to run off of the golf course just because it looks like rain.

Usually when i am golfing and it looks like rain or is threatening to rain you can go 6 or even 8 more holes and many times finishing your round without getting wet. The key is have a rain suit so you can stay out and not worry about getting wet.

A good quality golf rain gearpacked  in the golf bag is a needed piece of equipment so you can enjoy the game of golf.

You can not play golf when it is chilly or cold out without cold weather apparel made for the job. The clothes you wear has to keep you warm and keep the wind out, but also let you swing freely and unencumbered.

Under Armour has long sleeve performance polos called heatgear that will keep you warm and still let you move. And if it is cold enough you can wear something over it without getting in the way of you swing,

This long sleeve polo has a solid rib knit collar to fit snug but not tight.   And the sleeve cuffs are rib knit also so they stay put and not slide up and down your arm. That is good cold weather golf apparel.

Ladies here is a good question for you.How can you look like you belong on the golf course even though you are a beginner? OK i know that you know the answer to this one, have the right golf apparel.

Even though you are starting out learning the game of golf does not mean that you can not look good on the golf course and in the club house. Your friends that talked you into this and are teaching you how to hit the golf ball are all decked out. If you want to look like you belong you have to wear Izod and Tommy Hilfiger. Ashworth makes quality golf apparel and so does Port Authority.

Get yourself some womens  golf apparel, hats, shirts, shorts, pants that mix and match a you to will look like you belong on the golf course.

Golf Truism: Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

To stay warm and be able to enjoy a day on the links when it is chilly can be a challenge. Besides having a turtleneck with long sleeves and high socks to help keep the legs and feet warm you need a warm coat that is not bulky.

The Randall Scott company makes a Pantagonia womens full-zip Jacket. This is a cousin to the Snap-T jacket that has keep the ladies warm for generations. By adding a zipperd front i does even better at keeping the wind out and the warmth in.

This Pantagonia Jacket has a core warmth without bulk reputation. It has two handwarmer pockets that will always come in handy and a chest pocket that secure with a Supplex snapflap.

Sounds like a great piece of  womens golf apparel to me.

You and your golfing buddies have planned this trip for 3 months and you think you are ready to go, but wait, the weather is still a little cold down south. Are you still going to be able to enjoy the golf, or just freeze out there.

With a little preparation you will be just fine. Did you remember to pack up the  plastic and canvas golf cart cover that kept you warm last fall at home? Did you pack your winter golf gloves in your bag before you put it in the hard cover?

OK now bring along the long socks, the warm hat, the insulated wind breaker, you know, the golf apparel you used in the fall to stay warm. If you have all of that packed then you are set. If it turns warm great. But if the weather stays chilly you can still get in the golf with total enjoyment. One reason is you are prepared and the other is others were not and you have the golf course to yourself, how great is that. Your own private golf course in myrtle beach, cool.

If you want to hit a 6 iron as far as Tiger, or as hard as Elin, just try to lay up short of the creek?

Its cold outside, i do not care where you live in the states it is cold outside. If you are luck enough to be south then you can still get out there and golf with the right apparel and equipment.

If you put on a couple light layers of clothes so you can still swing, especially warm sock that go up by your knees it all helps without getting in the way of your swing. Next is your winter golf gloves with thinsulate for your hands and a stocking hat to keep the heat in.

Then you get your cart or rental with a windshield or your own clear plastic fold-able one. And add a three sided golf cart cover with zippered doors and back window.

Last but certainly not the least is the golf cart heater by coleman, the camping people. Yes they have a heater designed for golf carts that fits in the cup holder. Now you are set to go play golf on the mostly empty course, have a great day lucky one.

A Rain-Soaked Round

rainThey say baseball is the national pastime, but how many people over the age of 30 actually take routine batting practice? In reality, golf has surpassed most other sports in terms of participation. We might watch football, basketball and baseball on the weekends, but that’s only if the weather isn’t conducive for golf. If you’re planning to hit the links some time in the near future, make sure you’re prepared for the elements.

Some golf courses are only sparsely populated with trees, which makes them especially dangerous in a lightning storm. You’ll be able to play through the rain with golf rain gear and umbrellas in the case of a mere drizzle, but take cover once you hear the crack of thunder. Most courses are equipped with weather horns or alarms that sound when the club deems it unsafe to play in a storm. Keep your ears open for these sirens and live to play another day.

You want to golf in the colder weather but you do not want to be cold. Well if you dress in layers that are not tight to you so you can still swing you will be warm. If you are walking you will want to have light layers on just so you can adjust by taking off or putting on as needed to be comfortable.

I have noticed that if i wear a light t-shirt like cotton turtle neck and a sweatshirt or sweater i can stay very warm when walking. If it is windy i will have a lightly insulated windbreaker just to keep the wind out. Of coarse i have an insulated pair of winter golf gloves and a pair that is not insulated for marginal days.

I usually only get to the second hole and i start shedding apparel. But that is the advantage to dressing in layers, you can swing freely and still enjoy the game. And you can adjust your clothing to stay comfortable, as we all know the weather changes constantly on the golf course.

Importance of Good Golf Shoes

golf shoes

The most valuable skill a golfer can develop is the ability to replicate a well tuned golf swing.  But replicating those perfect swings can be one of the most difficult aspects of golf to master.  The first step in replicating the perfect swing is having the right equipment and the right golf shoes. Wearing clothing that is loose fitting and doesn’t restrict the body’s full range of motion is key, and having the right golf shoes will help you space your feet and be in the same position to swing. Golf shoes need to have a firm grip on the grass, as even the slightest slip can cause your swing to be skewed.

While there are dozens of different manufacturers of golf shoes, the maker isn’t as important as the shoe itself. The most renowned shoemakers don’t always make the best shoes. You want golf shoes that are snug against your feet inside the shoe, but also comfortable. Your golf shoes also need to be able to grip the grass and turf without any danger of slipping.  When planted, your feet should remain still even if your weight distributes to one direction.

A Rainy day, Still Golf? part 2

Nylon rain golf_rainweargear is a good way to tolerate the damp or wet conditions you may encounter. These consist of a long sleeved jacket and drawstring pants that have a zipper at the bottom of the pant leg so that you can put them on without taking off  your shoes. This type of apparel can be put on in less than a minute, which is good if you are caught in a sudden downpour.

The more expensive golf  rain suits are not only waterproof on the outside but on the inside as well. Also important if you live where it can be hot and rainy is to have rain apparel that breathes. this will prevent condensation from building up and making you hot and uncomfortable.

When you put on rain gear over your other clothes you now have another layer to restrict your swing movements.  That is why you want a lightweight thin suit. If you have tried a poncho for golf then you know what i am taking about.

Get your golf apparel, put it in your bag and then you to can golf on threatening days without worry.
