The northern half on this country has not had the chance to golf for a while but now is the time to get prepared so when opening day comes you can put on your golf apparel without wasting time and grab your golf equipment and get out there.

If you always forget year after year to get ready until your buddy calls and says the course is open and he has a tee time in one hour, then you panic, this is your wake up call.

Get ready now, check out your golf equipment, upgrade and be ready. Remember last year getting rained out constantly during the spring! Maybe now is a good time to order the golf cart cover so you can golf anyway and not get wet.

Stay out of the cold with a golf cart cover for your cart or the rental and enjoy spring golf with those intermittent showers that had you wearing your rain suit all day.

Hybrid Golf Clubs 101

Sunday, January 3, 2010 By: john

Do you own a new style hybrid golf club? Are you still old school and hanging on to your long irons? Do you still struggle with the long irons in the rough and try to bull your way to the green, only to be denied time after time?

Get with the program people! If you have not tried a hybrid club or own one then you are really missing the biggest change improvement in golf  since they replaced the feather golf ball.

It does not matter what brand of golf clubs you use or if you have a matched set or not, hybrids replacing the long irons is a must if you are an average golfer. There are very few of us out there that can hit a good iron shot out of the rough and hit the green with a long iron with any consistency.

There are many of us who can hit the green out of the rough from over 150 yards with  hybrid golf clubs.

Coleman propane golf cart heater

Saturday, December 5, 2009 By: john

Coleman Camping equipment has designed or adopted, whichever, there personal heater for use in a golf cart. It would probably work somewhat even if you did not have a cover when you are stopped.

These golf cart heaters are great in the spring on a rainy day that is kind of clammy feeling. You can leave your doors loose on your Classics Accessories cover and when you get in it will feel dry and warm and you get that comfy feeling until you get out to hit the golf balls.

In the fall and into the winter in the southern states the Coleman heaters are a great golf accessory to add enjoyment to the game. Think about it if you are out there golfing with a cover on the cart and a heater inside don’t you have the golf course to yourself. It is just like having your own golf course with no waiting and nobody rushing you.

All Business on the Golf Course

You might think about the golf course as a place to relax and unwind, a place to reconnect with family and shoot the bull with close friends. While all those things are patently true, I like to use it for another express purpose: business. Few people realize this, but tons of corporate deals are brokered on golf courses every year; think of the ninth fairway as a boardroom with a view.

Of course no one appreciates a hard sell when they’re trying to enjoy a round of golf. That’s why I like to stick with subtle tactics that tend to pay off over the long term rather than right away. For example, I always play with personalized golf balls bearing my company logo. I’ll sometimes leave one of the balls in the cart after my round, or I’ll tell my playing partner to keep it. Sooner or later they are sure to look at that ball again, and when they do they will think of my company.

Most of us golfers, when faced with a very long  putt,  have trouble figuring out the best way to get the golf ball to stop close enough to the hole to make this a two putt hole.  Well here is some tips  that hopefully will help the next time you miss your approach shot.

Don’t get so focused on the length of the putt that you forget how to maintain a smooth stroke.  A short or normal stroke with a stabby motion can leave you very short or very long. You need a long back swing so the putter head can gather momentum to push the golf ball to the hole.

It is also ok to use your wrists a little to get the length of putt correct. Come back later for tips on the proper golf swing for 50 foot putts. No matter what kind of golf equipment you own and how much you paid for your putter practice and patients is always required.

A   golfer has a tendency to hang back on the swing and try to help the ball up but that is the wrong thing to do. And if you do this inconsistently your approach shots will never be the correct distance. If you are inconsistent hitting the golf ball on approach shots it is obvious the score will rise.

To be a good iron player and let your golf equipment do the job it was designed to do you have to hit down and through all the iron shots, even the wedges.  Here is a couple good swing thoughts for you to remember.   Keep everything moving forward all of the way through the shot, do not hold back.

The other thought  is when you hit the golf ball the back of your left hand should be facing the target. You need to feel as if you are backhanding the ball at the time of contact. the nine iron will always go the correct distance if you hit it the same way every time, thus lowering the score count, everybody’s goal.

This is a good tip for a beginners guide to golf  and a good reminder for the rest of us also.    Now get out there and hit the ball, have fun.

In part 1 it appeared graphite should be used hands down. But hold on, some golfers already have a fast swing speed or are jerky in the transition at the top, or both. These golfers need the weight of the steel and the stiffness to help control the club head.

When you learned how to swing your golf clubs you learned all of the golf club head speed in the world does no good if the face is not square when it meets up with the golf ball. You have to have total control of your swing and the position of the club head face at impact.  A long hit out of bounds is not any better then a fly ball to deep center field with the center fielder camped under it. It is still out!

Now what about feel? Steel gives a more solid feel and better feed back.  Some golfers want that feed back on there hits and some golfers like the damping feel of graphite. Take your pick graphite if more distance is needed but you give up feel. Go and  make your choice and get out there, life is short, play golf.

vokey oil can wedge

The Titleist  Vokey Wedges have been the favorite short game tool of golfers for many many years.  Of coarse there have been numerous changes in technology over the years to stay ahead of the competition. The Vokey Spin Milled wedges have a discernible performance option, increased spin.Titleist works with the tour players to always develop wedges that, even in major championships always perform up to expectations.   The grooves in the golf club are precisely milled to tight tolerances that are capable of providing increased spin on the golf ball even on half or three quarter shots.  Titleist engineers have even designed a special CNC saw cutting tool to cut the grooves and face of the Vokey Wedges.  This cutting style provides increased friction between the Wedge and the golf ball even on grassy lies and wet conditions with 30% more groove volume.  The Titleist Golf Clubs  company has created and continues to improve the Vokey Wedge line to give the golfer the confidence to execute the most challenging short shots needed in the game of golf.
