I would rather make a 10 foot putt or a two putt from 35 feet, it scores better and takes more skill then brute force with a driver. Buy a good putter that feels and looks right to you. You are going to spend more time with the putter than any other club so you better like it. But it does not have to be expensive to be good for you. Add a good putter to your variety golf clubs and improve your game.
Now everytime you go golfing get there a little early, maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Go on the practice green and practice putting, that will save more strokes than the driving range if you have to make a choice. I am not saying do not go on the driving range ever that would be wrong , I am just saying spend more time on your short game.

Ping Putters the beginning
The first PING putter dates back 50 years to Karsten Solheim’s Redwood City, California garage.
Karsten was a mechanical engineer at general electric for his day job. He invented the first ping putter, the PING 1-A. He combined the idea of reducing the twisting of the putter head during the stroke with his applied theory of heel-toe balance.
And it worked. Then he went on to invent and revolutionize putter design including the winningest, most copied classic model putter ever, the anser.
