Perhaps more than any other sport, golf is a game that values its own special etiquette. After all, a soft, polite round of applause has been nicknamed the golf clap for a reason. Beyond the more obvious rules – don’t talk during a playing partner’s swing, etc. – there are a number of other regulations that beginners would do best to learn early on. Any breach of etiquette can be taken quite seriously by an avid player.

When you reach the green, pay special attention to where you walk in relation to the balls. Every put has an invisible “line” to the hole, which should not be infringed upon at any time. Take care to walk around or over that line when you’re traversing the green. The indentations left by mens golf shoes can disrupt the pure roll of a ball over the putting surface.
