Express Your Fashion on the Course

Monday, June 7, 2010 By: WeekendGolfer

mens golf shirtsGolf is not just a sport, but for some people, a way of life. While other sports might have jerseys, team merchandise, and assorted paraphernalia, golf apparel is much more diverse and also much more discreet. You won’t see too many golfers wearing apparel with images of Tiger Woods all over it. Mens golf shirts, hats, and shoes are more fashionable than other sports apparel. You will find people wearing golf apparel on and off the course, and instead of comments from others like “Wow, you like the New York Yankees too!” there’s more of a general tolerance and appreciation for the fashion.

When choosing golf apparel for golf, it’s important to have clothing that is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable. Golf shoes should provide adequate traction to make drives and also hit the ball from slanted terrain including bunkers. Golf is best played in the sunshine, and thus a hat is often necessary to ward off the sunbeams.

The Rules and Decorum of Golf

Monday, March 8, 2010 By: WeekendGolfer

GolfGolf is a sport of decorum. More so than other sports, there are definite rules and regulations that have to be followed in terms of what you wear and how you behave on the course. These rules apply to both players and spectators. To that end, the audience must always remain quiet until a specific and allotted time, and even then, it must be clapping kept at a modest volume.

Another strict area of the game is golf apparel. In many cases, players are not even allowed to compete if they aren’t wearing the appropriate gear. That’s why it’s important to know exactly what you need to play the game beforehand. If you’re playing in a competition, make sure to scour the given rules to make sure you don’t miss a single game. As such, make sure you have golf shirts, pants, shorts, shoes, and hat. All of these products should be tailored to the specifications of the game.

Is it time to start thinking spring yet. Up here in northern Wisconsin we are thinking the worst is probably over. Every day that goes by now is less and less chance the temperature will dip below 0 degrees.

That does not sound like golf weather but we start golfing as soon as the snow is gone and the greens do not have frost on them. April in when that happens and it is not that far away, thank goodness.

Of coarse the golf apparel we will be wearing then will be what the southerners are wearing now. High socks and long sleeves and layers of warm clothes and hopefully you can still swing the golf club. There is new golf apparel out all the time and with the weather starting to warm we northerners get a break.

You see as the country warms up more and more the cold weather clothes are put at a discount because less of the golfers in the country need them. But we are just getting to the time some new golf apparel will make us feel good and golf season will seem much closer.

This is the time of year that no matter where you golf in the United States it is a good chance that you are going to have to dress for cold weather golf. You golfers know the drill, long socks, long sleeves, warm hat, and layers of insulated golf apparel.

Trying to make sure your clothes do not hinder your golf swing. And you put on your cold weather insulated golf gloves to keep your hands warm. You need Cold weather golf apparel to be able to enjoy the game of golf this time of the year. It is either that or standing inside looking out the window, not fun.

And if you are on of the fortunate golfers to have a golf trip you do not want to spend all that money and not have the warm clothes to allow you to play if the weather turns bad. And we all know that can happen anywhere this time of the year.

Don”t have Golf Shorts, check this out

Mens golf apparel has not changed very much in the last few years. You have many different manufacturers of shorts and other golf  apparel that were not in the game last decade.

The golf clubs manufacturers have gotten in the clothing business, mostly by buying out small clothing companies to produce high quality apparel. Names now include Nike, Addidas, Ping, Calloway, and you have old golfers getting in the apparel business like Greg Norman, the shark.

Addidas has a classic style shorts with the ClimaCool technology to help keep you cool and dry on the hot days. And some shorts even now have UPF sun protection built in to protect you.

The material in these new high quality men’s golf shorts are very comfortable and are even treated to keep the mustard from staining when you have the hot dog at the turn.

Mens Golf Shorts

It just is not right to go to the golf course with cut-off blue jeans for shorts. The golf course is not a snooty place to go usually anymore but the clothing on attire usually seen on most public, private or semi private golf courses is quality.

I have been to many golf courses in my many years of golf and i feel very much out of place if i would go golfing in a tee shirt and cut offs. You need a nice collared shirt and a nice pair of shorts or pants not necessarily pleated but nice cotton khakis or something like that.

So if you are new to golf and do not want to feel uncomfortable when you go golfing or you do not want to be refused a tee time for not having a collared shirt then  do not dress like you are doing yard work. You never know when there might be a pretty lady or two  there you want to impress so always think golf apparel when going out.

A Rain-Soaked Round

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 By: WeekendGolfer

rainThey say baseball is the national pastime, but how many people over the age of 30 actually take routine batting practice? In reality, golf has surpassed most other sports in terms of participation. We might watch football, basketball and baseball on the weekends, but that’s only if the weather isn’t conducive for golf. If you’re planning to hit the links some time in the near future, make sure you’re prepared for the elements.

Some golf courses are only sparsely populated with trees, which makes them especially dangerous in a lightning storm. You’ll be able to play through the rain with golf rain gear and umbrellas in the case of a mere drizzle, but take cover once you hear the crack of thunder. Most courses are equipped with weather horns or alarms that sound when the club deems it unsafe to play in a storm. Keep your ears open for these sirens and live to play another day.
