Ping Putters the beginning
The first PING putter dates back 50 years to Karsten Solheim’s Redwood City, California garage.
Karsten was a mechanical engineer at general electric for his day job. He invented the first ping putter, the PING 1-A. He combined the idea of reducing the twisting of the putter head during the stroke with his applied theory of heel-toe balance.
And it worked. Then he went on to invent and revolutionize putter design including the winningest, most copied classic model putter ever, the anser. Ping has made hundreds of models of putters over the years to help solve golfers putting. And they have been very successful solving putting woes for a huge amount of golfers around the world. And that is how Ping Golf Clubs company got it’s start.
